<br/><br/> The Asia Pacific region is increasingly prone to natural disasters. This article considers what is required to provide effective humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR), what capabilites regional countries have and what is lacking (equipment and collaboration), and notes that an HADR role may be used to justify acquisition decisions which in reality have other purposes.
