Special issue of Disasters journal contains seven papers on the aftermath of the disaster including: impact on mortality in a severaly affected town; the role of social media; opportunity for survivors of previous disasaters to provide assistance and the psychological impact on them of doing so; governance; parenting; disaster myths; and evaluating the impact of such disasters on national economic performance.
