How likely is it that the European Union will disintegrate? : a critical analysis of competing theoretical perspectives /
Douglas Webber.
- 2014
Explores conditions under which theories which are usually used to assess the potential for ongoing European integration would predict the reverse i.e. the dis-integration of the EU, then considers whether the conditions for such an outcome presently exist. Finds that the theories do not take enough account of the domestic politics of member states nor of the central role of Germany. Concludes that although disintegration is at present highly unlikely it is possilbe the Europe's present problems may reflect the problems besetting other regional and international multilateral institutions.
