<br/><br/> In response to piracy in the Indian Ocean, Spain has deployed armed forces as part of the EU response and has also supported the use of private security forces on vessels. This article considers how close integration between public and private participants together with wide public support has enabled Spain to make this an effective two strand approach to maritime security.
