<br/><br/> Various factors have caused the loss of some 8.5 million hectares of agricultural land in China at the same time as urbanisation has increased food demand. This paper looks at the steps China is taking in Southeast Asia to secure sources of food supply and what effect these might have on regional food security. Includes studies of Chinese investment in ASEAN states particularly Indonesia and the Philippines.
