<br/><br/> In Greece in 1944 two thousand German troops proposed to desert the Wehrmacht and join SOE and Greek partisans.  This article describes who the German troops were, looks at relations between SOE Cairo and the Foreign Office in London, considers SOE's response to the proposal, how the proposal became part of a wider plan to foster insurrection, why time scales slipped, and the ultimate failure of the entire project.
