<br/><br/> The Secretary of the Navy, Ray Mabus, and the Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen James F. Amos, testified before the Armed Services Committee of the U.S.  House of Representatives in March 2011 describing the basic idea of "what will be next" in terms of the successor to the assault amphibian vehicle (AAV). The Commandant described the amphibious combat vehicle (ACV) and stated that it would be a capable vehicle, but more affordable than the expeditionary fighting vehicle (EFV).
