Chinese and Japanese investment in Southeast and South Asia : case studies of the electronics and automobile industries / Eric Harwit. - 2013

Study of foreign direct investment by China and Japan. Beginning in the 1950s Japan has been a major international investor especially in SE Asia with well established manufacturing, distribution and support systems, whereas China is a relatively new entrant to FDI. This article suggests that Japan will face increasing challenges from China as the latter improves managment skills, gains experience, establishes brands and reliable distribution networks.
