N2  - With the cost of procuring and supporting new defence equipment rising higher, governments and militaries worldwide are having to find means of acheiving greater capabilities with fewer resources.  This includes upgrading fixed- and rotary-winged aircrafts where costs of procuring, operating and supporting even modest-sized fleets can run into billions of dollars.  This is a challenge for air forces where they need to choose what to do as there is an increasing use of retrofits to keep legacy aircrafts fit to use.  Of all the retrofit incorporated into a legacy aircraft, cockpit upgrades has been seen to have the largest take-up.  This article looks into the available options that are in the market for advanced cockpit upgrades in order to give new capabilities and advanced aircrew experiences
