The Australian government has taken the view that maintaining defense readiness must, in Australian's case involve giving its force the most advanced systems available in the world. That approach however, has begun to confront some major problems chief of which has been compliance with the doctrine and deployment patterns of its alliance partner the US, which has increasingly different strategic goals than Australian.
