The book contains eye-witness accounts from the following campaigns and minor wars, Gurkha, Burmese and Afghan. This is a collection of imperial echos, grouped together on the basis of their location. A considerable resource from which might be assembled an alternative non-official history of some of the landmarks in British imperial history. The 19th century particularly the late Victorian period was the age of empire. The century begins with a few border, frontier and tribial conflicts in the Indian sub-continent. The British soldier was busy throughout the nineteeth century.
