<br/><br/> This paper explores some connections between small arms, violence,and gender Papua New Guinea.  The first section provides a brief and general overview of small arms issues in PNG, including a discussion of the source of most illicit weapons.  The second section examines the misuse of firearmsin urban crime and inter-communal fighting in the highlands.  The final section identifies three areas for further research on gender and and small arms in PNG.
