<br/><br/> This article examines events, policy, and issues surrounding Thailands, troubled south during the first 18 months of the democrat party led administration of Abhist Vejjajiva.  These topics are presented at two interacting levels.  (1) the representation, discourse, and politics of government and military policy.  (2) The struggle on the ground.  The essay also argues that the domocrat-led government, despite its rhetorical pronouncements concerning "politics leading in military".
