<br/><br/> Looks at China's miltary has developed through since it began to put in effort to modernise its armed forces in the 1990s.  Also looks at Southeast Asia's military modernisation efforts and from there assesses the shift in military balance.  This article also examines what the Southeast Asian countries, particularly Vietnam and the Philippines, could do to best preserve their territorial interests in response to that shift.
