<br/><br/> During and after the Vietnam War the U.S. Army had to cope with a serious loss of unit cohesion, discipline and morale, and a lack of modern equipment. This article considers how military thinking moved from limited war to the necessity for overwhelming force (the Powell Doctrine), and how the latter affected not just the military but political and public spheres too.
