Losing control: global security in the twenty first century - London, UK: Pluto Press, 2000 - 164p.

Argues that Western states aim to maintain the global status quo through economic and political dominance backed by military force. This book suggests that this is unjust, unethical, and unsustainable in military terms. Trends in asymmetric warfare and political violence, together with the vulnerability of urban industrialised states mean that conventional military approaches to maintaining security will no longer work. An alternative approach which addresses the growing social and economic gaps both between and within states is needed.
