Sets out several different security environments which the United States might face in the first quarter of the twenty first century. The study includes analysis of regional trends in Europe, East Asia, Eurasia, and the Middle East, some alternative perspectives on the international system, and considers the possible effects of some unexpected major events. These deliberations are presented as 4 strategic paradigms for 2025. conclusions and recommendations for U.S. foreign policy and defence planning are then given.
