<br/><br/> Indications are that China will soon begin a period of large scale naval expansion based on an aircraft carrier. However China will have to continue to support a large land based force and this will constrain its naval ambitions. Nevertheless this level of naval development will affect relations with the USA and may cause Washington to increase its own naval spending and deployments.
