In Iraq and Afghanistan IEDs cause the greatest number of deaths among coalition forces. This short article discusses the endless cycle of development in IED technology and the countermeasures to defeat them. The latter range from robots to lasers, and water bombs to predictive analysis software. Other measures include improving protection for vehicles and occupants. A definitve technological solution is not expected.
