<br/><br/> In recent years foreign intervention to support state-building has often been seen as the way to deal with failed states. This article considers the limits to state-building by reviewing four recent books on the subject of failed states and asking whether too much has been made of specific solutions in specific contexts which may not be rational when seen in a broader economic view.
