All hands on deck: the sky's the limit for shipboard UAVs/ Rupert Pengelley - 2009

Rotary and fixed-wind unmanned aerial vehicles are beginning to take roles that have been traditionally reserved for manned maritime patrol aircraft, providing surveillance capabilities and even a limited weapons-delivery capability. This article provides an insight into the various unmanned aerial vehicles and the capabilities in the ISR (intellegence, surveillance and reconnaissance) roles traditionally fulfilled by manned maritime patrol aircraft and shipboard helicopters.
