APEC at a crossroads:  challenges and opportunities/

<br/><br/> Under the weight of various challenges, growing frustration both inside and outside APEC clouds its prospects as a lead institution in promoting regional cooperation in the Asia-Pacific.  To help consider the future of APEC, 4 scenarios is given in this article that describe alternative paths the organisation may take: 1. preserve the status quo, 2. model after the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), 3. an institution for Asia-Pacific security cooperation, or 4. a free trade area of the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP).  This article goes on to provide conclusion from the analysis of these scenarios and what the effect will be on APEC.
