ASEAN's war on terrorism gains momentum/ J M Jamaludin - 2009

Anti-terrorism efforts steps ups in the Southeast Asian region with the Asean Convention on Counter-Terrorism. The convention signed in January 2007, provides a framework for regional cooperation to "counter, prevent and suppress terrorism in all its forms and manifestations". It calls for the exchange of intelligence and the prevention of one Asean member's territory to plan, finance or facilitate attacks on another. This article looks at ASEAN's anti-terrorism efforts, the measures which can be taken to combat terrorism and also on the coordinated approach ASEAN is taking to fight terrorism.
