These two volumes are primarily concerned with national and international perspectives on maritime piracy and terrorism and the measures that have been put in place to counter threats to ships, their crews and cargoes. Also includes brief history of piracy, and case studies of the Achille Lauro hijacking and the attack on the USS Cole. Volume 1 considers US approaches to border protection, security of ports, containers, and transportation, and the roles of the executive e.g. Coast Guard, DHS, Dept of Defense, FBI. Volume 2includes some congressional research service reports, plus regional and international perspectives.
