<br/><br/> China turned the crisis into an opportunity in three ways it has used its economic muscle to expand influence and gain leverage, it has also exploited the crisis in order to improve energy and commodity security.  China's ability to capitalise on the global economic crisis has not gone unnoticed neither have its failures such as its ill-timed foray into US banking and private equity before the crisis began.  China is expanding its influence as a major player in the international system.
