Secular trends :    Indonesia after the Bali bombers

<br/><br/> The bombings killed 202 people mostly tourists in Bali in 2002.  The bombers members of Jemaah Islamiah (JI)  a south-East Asian affiliate of al-Qaeda bragged of relishing martyrdom.  With the help of FBI and its Australian counterpart it created two specialist anti terror units. One is a low profile intelligence gathering operation and the other detachment 88 a muscular police unit that swoops on suspected members of violent groups.  Terrorism analysts also say the police must keep a close watch on localised sectarian conflicts.
