Argues that in the not too distant future technological developments will enable humans to overcome genetic malfunctions and live longer healthier and more intelligent lives. Artificial intelligence will undertake an increasing range of tasks once considered the sole preserve of humans - as this capability increases so does its potential until it becomes close to infinite (in maths a singularity) . Considers the possible impact of such developments in various fields including warfare. These developments will not come without their own problems: for example the book notes there are counter opinions that call for limits on AI.
