The health crisis in Russia's ranks / Murray Feshbach. - 2008

Russia's declining population and worsening levels of general health are affecting the armed forces ability to recruit and retain enough of the right calibre of personnel. e.g in 2004 less than half of naval recruits had finished secondary education. If these trends continue Russia may find itself unable to take advantage of its huge arsenals in support of its military ambitions.
