The Olympic torch relay left little doubt about China's very considerable aspirations and reveals much about Chinese power today.The torch's travel reveal much about the sources and limits of Chinese power demonstrating just how intense the fires of Chinese nationalism can be when framed. Security measures in Asian countries were partly a reflection of concerns about domestic order. This in itself is testament to China's growing power and influence in the region.
