Comte's caveat : how we misunderstand terrorism / Adam Garfinkle - 2008

Auguste Comte said that "intellectual confusion is at the bottom of every historical crisis". This article argues that the USA has suffered from such confusion in its foreign policy stances, made worse by wrong assumptions about American power, about extremist terrorism, and failing to correct these errors because of bias in US political culture. Suggests that seeing problems and situations as they really are would produce much needed changes in American home and foreign policies.
