There is both a need and possibility for closer Sino-Japanese relations in spite of real difficulties and potential clashes. In the political and diplomatic arena, room for cooperation is even broader. The imminent issue at present is to seek appropriate solution to the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula. It is necessary for the two countries and the peoples to maintain dialogue and consultation to enhance mutual understanding and to resolve disputes peacefully.
