Organizational theory is used to analyse the relative success of various groups in Afghanistan since the Soviet withdrawal. Part one of the book describes organizational theory of group conflict; Part two applies the theory concluding that centralised groups are more effective than dispersed ones except when there is no safe haven; Part three applies the concept outside Afghanistan.
