Terrorism targeting industrial chemical facilities : strategic motivations and the implications for U.S. security / Margaret E Kosal
Material type: TextPublication details: 2007Subject(s): In: Studies In Conflict & Terrorism Vol 30 No 1, January 2007, pp.41-73 (114)Summary: Various worst case scenarios suggest that an attack on a chemical facility in the USA could result in large numbers of casualties. This study looks at the small number of attacks that have actually taken place against such facilities in the USA, or overseas that have American parent bodies. Concludes that the number of attacks is very small, that the main objective appears to be the company rather than the plant, and that most attacks are not religiously motivated. Measures taken to prevent or contain genuine accidents will have a secondary benefit in reducing the impact of a terrorist attack.Item type | Current library | Call number | Copy number | Status | Date due | Barcode | |
