Originally published in 1963
Reissue of Lt Col Galula's account of two years of first hand experience of counterinsurgency in Algeria. Prior to this he had made a study of other insurgencies in East and Southeast Asia while based in China and Hong Kong. His conclusions despite being drawn more than 40 years ago are still highly relevant to modern counterinsurgency practice. This new edition includes a forward by Bruce Hoffman and a ten page summary of the whole book.
