By: Material type: TextTextPublication details: 2006Subject(s): In: Defence Studies Vol 6 No 2, June 2006, pp.215-247 (105) Summary: Since the end of the Cold War western militaries have had to adapt to new dynamic strategic environment where the threats, and warfare itself, are subject to change. Military organizations need to adapt to new concepts and technologies while recognizing that today's innovation may be no use tomorrow. This article considers how this works in practice by looking at two instances of change in the USMC - one successful (manoeuvre warfare) and one that was not (instilling a mindset of creative, persistent innovation).
