This book is a step by step history of Hitler's Air Force presented in pictures. The photographs and text were the result of visits made to German senior officers who survived. This has resulted in a unique and objectively precise account of the birth, life and death of the Luftwaffe. This is a force that made possible the lightning victories by the German army during the first three years of war. Then it had to be on the defensive as other countries air defence grew stronger and later with its finest crew dead or caught or in want of fuel, German had to sit it out and waited for the end to come.
