Assessment of the psychological dimension of terror and terrorism which highlights the shortcomings and limitations of current research: e.g. a causal linkage is presumed rather than known, and a clear predisposition to terrorism has yet to be demonstrated. Suggests that a more fruitful approach is to consider the process of terrorism - becoming a terrorist, being one, and stopping being one. Concludes that there are at present no neat answers and no valid terrorist profiles and calls for "...objective, independent, empirical data-driven research on terrorist behaviour."
