This book looks at the conduct of four amphibious campaigns, the capture of Quebec in 1759, the Dardanelles offensive of 1915-16, the American landings at Inchon in 1950 and the Falkland islands war of 1982. To be able to land and deploy forces on an enemy shore represents a formidable undertaking and exercise of power. Amphibious forces are extremely benign. The four campaigns discussed in this book three were successful and one a failure. The lessons of the campaigns are considerable relevance.
