Reintegrates information that was separated in some recent editions; includes country by country entries arranged alphabetically within main world regions. Each region is prefaced with a descriptive account of major militry events of the previous year. Country entries give defence budgets, force breakdowns with men and equipment, reserves, and deployments. Each section concludes with a commentary on defence economics of the region plus tables of arms orders and deliveries. Part 2 Non-state Armed Groups has tables with brief details of recent activities and the groups themselves. Part 3 Reference has tables of aircraft designations, operational offensive nuclear delivery suystems, lists of abbreviations and indexes. A separate poster-sized full colour map with tables gives information on various aspects of armed conflicts around the world for the period 1945-2005 e.g. fatalities, peace support operations, top U.N. troop contributing countries, and selected foreign military interventions.
