COVERAGE:Annual review of defence trends in the Asia-Pacific region. Divided into 4 main sections. The first section analyses the geo-political and politico-military developments that took place in 1998. The second section provides updated data and information on the force modernisation efforts of the Asia-Pacific region's major military powers and regional defence spending trends. It also presents a detailed, multi-service ORBAT of the Asia-Pacific regions major military powers - excluding Russia and the USA; this serves as a quick reference guide to the comparative military capabilities of these countries. The third section provides defence industry profiles. The fourth section is a tabulated representation of the size and equipment inventories of the various Asia-Pacific countries' armed forces.ARRANGEMENT: Sections 2 and 3 arrange country profiles alphabetically by country.
