Details the little-known Soviet military disaster of the Second World War. Orchestrated and led by Marshal Georgi Kotantinovich Zhokov, the twin operations Mars and Uranus formed the centrepiece of Soviet strategic efforts in the fall of 1942. Designed to dislodge the German Army from its position west of Moscow, Operation Mars cost the Soviets and estimated 335,00 dead and became an event that never happened, according to Soviet history books.
