Traces the history of combat search and rescue from its origins in the Second World War to the present. Examines wars in Southeast Asia, in particular the Vietnam war and the British colonial low-intensity wars in Borneo and Malaya, which encouraged the introduction on new techniques. Also looks at how the evolution of the helicopter and high-tech airborne equipment and techniques has enabled operations to penetrate remote areas. Concludes with predictions for future evolutions in Combat Search and Rescue.
