Aimed at pilots undergoing intermediate or advanced courses of instruction at flying training schools. Chapters cover physical principles such as the atmosphere, pressure, temperature, density, motion of the atmosphere, formation of cloud and precipitation, thunderstorms, ice accretion on aircraft, and visibility. Part II covers meteorological observations. Part III covers synoptic meteorology, including collection and charting of observations, frontal depressions, anticyclones, and elements of forecasting. Part IV covers general circulation and world climate. Part V covers meteorological information for aviation. The appendices give derivation of some formulae introduced into the text; conversion tables; and guidance on decoding SYNOP messages, METAR messages, METAR and SPECI decode, and TAF decode.
