The Royal Engineers has three strands. The soldier engineer supporting the army in the field. It can be found in most accounts of battles for in most the sapper was there. The second strand the sapper as an inventor ingenious adpator of technology and science. The three stranded of the Royal Engineers can be seen in the exhibits at the developing Royal engineers museum at Chatham.
