This book is about the Airfield Construction Squadrons (ACSs) which were the units in the RAAF during the period 1942-1974.There have been few Air Force plans which have not had facilitie. Whilst Always First is primarily concerned with the storyof the ACSs, references have been made to Works Staff in Air Force HeadquartersAlways First makes references to surveying problems in Labuan.A prime role of the ACS management was prblem solving arising from shortage of personnel, equipment and spares. The difficulty and variety of projects presented many challenges from aengineering aspect. 11 December 1997 marked the end of an era of the ACS. ACS was all about constructing and creating lasting assets.
