An account of the operations of armoured units of the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Includes tank and mechanized infantry battalions and companies, armoured cavalry, and air cavalry. The post-Second World War experience of French forces in Indo China had convinced Americans that armoured units could not be used in Vietnam, thus early planning did not include them. By the time that the potential was realised other factors constrained large scale use. Nevertheless armoured units did make significant contributions.
