It has also brought back into view the relationship between Myanmar's Bamar majority and the country's ethnic minorities. The coup has served as a rallying point for communities from diverse backgrounds and across different generations, including those who had been unimpressed by or hostile towards Suu Kyi and her party. Protestors are unified in their condemnation of the coup and in their call for the release of detainees, including Aung San Suu Kyi and other prominent NLD leaders.
