In this paper the existing literature on popular support for Islamist violence in Indonesia by replicating and extending the empirical framework for modeling the relationship between support for various conceptualizations of Shari'a and support for Islamist violence. With the rise of ISIS, the Indonesian jihadist community became further fragmented along pro and anti-ISIS lines. Since 2016, terrorist attacks in Indonesia have had a pro-ISIS signature. Most recently, in May 2018, JAD-linked jihadists launched a series of terrorist attacks.
