Instead, peacekeeping deployments bring significant institutional, political and financial benefits to the security forces in TCCs, which impacts the civil-military equilibrium within them. In doing so, the article does not claim a direct causal relationship between peacekeeping deployments and the state of civil-military relations in FCAS, but rather seeks to explore the contours of their interaction. To pursue these arguments, I borrow from Owens to define civil-military relations as: allocation of responsibilities and prerogatives between the civil government and the military establishment.11
