In: NIDS Journal of Defense and Security No 18 December 2017, pp.33-57Summary: This study takes the view that the relative national power of the United States will be maintained at current levels, Japan and the United States is to take the lead in promoting multilateral security cooperation in the pacific region with the Japan-U.S alliance at the center. Japan and the United States will see their national power and the deployment of military power in the pacific region decline, but the population and economic power of ASEAN member countries will grow.
